Amr H. Dabbous is considered the pioneer of technical analysis in Egypt and the Middle East. Over the course of many years, Mr. Dabbous has managed to build a name for himself which has become synonymous with technical analysis. Mr. Dabbous is one of the very rare analysts in the Middle East who have covered and traded most financial world markets. In December 2006, he established Trend University, the first technical analysis university in the world, with a mission to produce a new generation of technical analysis asset managers. In June 2007, he became the first Arab to register a copyright for a technical analysis tool. Actually, he protected more than one tool. These include his famous “Trend Monitor” and all his “Momentum Wavers” equity indices construction and application tools.

Prior to this, Mr. Dabbous was founder and managing director of Momentum Wavers, Ltd. the Middle East’s first and only specialized technical analysis firm. As a result of his leading role in the field, Mr. Dabbous was granted the approval of the International Federation of Technical Analysts (IFTA) to establish the Egyptian Society of Technical Analysts (ESTA), a non-profit organization set up to promote technical analysis in Egypt.

Prior to founding Momentum Wavers, Ltd. Mr. Dabbous was Head of Trading at EFG-Hermes Asset Management. He also conducted the first Technical Analysis course in the Region as part of the EFG-Hermes investment course in 1997. Before that, Mr. Dabbous worked at the Capital Markets department of Arab International Bank where he covered and traded U.S equities and money markets instruments. Later on, he joined the bank’s dealing room where he became a Foreign Exchange and Currency Options Dealer. He was in charge of managing portfolios in the foreign exchange and currency options markets for the bank as well as its clients.

Mr. Dabbous is also an active technical analysis instructor. He has organized technical analysis courses for the American University in Cairo's Institute of Banking and Finance program, as well as for several financial institutions in Egypt.
